Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday met with a delegation from the Arab Ministerial Committee at Al Husseiniya Palace, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. The meeting aimed to address international concerns regarding Israel's actions in occupied Jerusalem.
According to Jordan News Agency, the King emphasized the need for a unified Arab-Muslim stance to counteract Israel's activities, particularly at Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif. He reiterated Jordan's commitment to its historic and legal duty under the Hashemite Custodianship to protect Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. The delegation comprised foreign ministers from Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Palestine, Egypt, and Morocco, as well as the secretary-general of the League of Arab States, with additional representatives from Indonesia, Pakistan, Trkiye, and Malaysia.
The King expressed concern over regional unrest potentially being used to alter the status quo in Jerusalem and warned of the broader conflict risks due to Israel's continued actions in the West Bank, including land annexation and settlement expansion. The discussions highlighted the necessity of adhering to the comprehensive peace plan for Gaza.
The meeting was also attended by His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, His Majesty's chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy, along with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh.
