King Abdullah II and India PM Modi Discuss Economic Cooperation at Al Husseiniya Palace

Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II held talks with India Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Al Husseiniya Palace, focusing on expanding economic cooperation between Jordan and India.

According to Jordan News Agency, the King welcomed Prime Minister Modi's visit, highlighting it as a significant opportunity to explore new economic avenues in sectors such as industry and information technology.

The discussions underscored the strong partnership between Jordan and India, which has spanned over 75 years. The King emphasized the importance of the cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding to be exchanged during this visit. These agreements are anticipated to strengthen bilateral ties further.

His Majesty also pointed to the upcoming Jordan-India business forum in Amman as a platform to enhance trade cooperation, attract investments, and foster partnerships in crucial areas. The forum is expected to serve as a catalyst for economic collaboration between the two countries.

Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude for the warm reception, conveying appreciation on behalf of 1.4 billion Indians. He acknowledged the visit as a step towards deepening bilateral relations, particularly in trade, digital technology, infrastructure, and fertilizers. Modi also commended King Abdullah II's role in promoting peace and stability in the region, especially concerning developments in Gaza.

Regional stability and humanitarian efforts in Gaza were pivotal topics during the talks. Both leaders agreed on the need to respect state sovereignty and emphasized intensifying humanitarian efforts and implementing agreements to end conflict in the region.

On the sidelines, Jordan and India plan to sign memorandums of understanding on renewable energy and water resource management, a cultural exchange program, a letter of intent on digital transformation cooperation, and a twinning agreement between Petra and the Ellora Caves.

The talks were attended by senior officials from both nations, including Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Safadi and India's Ambassador to Jordan Manish Chauhan.
