Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II met with Finland President Alexander Stubb at Al Husseiniya Palace to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral relations and addressing key developments in the region. The talks were attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, highlighting the longstanding relations between Jordan and Finland, which have grown steadily over more than 60 years. King Abdullah emphasized the importance of exploring new areas of cooperation, particularly in education and technology.
According to Jordan News Agency, President Stubb expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and commended King Abdullah's efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East. He expressed interest in hearing Jordan's perspective on regional developments and noted the shared security challenges faced by both Finland and Jordan. The Finnish president emphasized the countries' mutual pursuit of stability through solutions-oriented peace mediation.
King Abdullah underscored Jordan's strategic location and its role in fostering partnership and dialogue with Finland and the European Union. He highlighted the importance of international cooperation to achieve regional peace. On regional issues, His Majesty stressed the need for the United States and Iran to maintain a ceasefire to end the war and called for diplomatic measures to reduce tensions and strengthen stability.
The King also highlighted the need for the ceasefire in Lebanon to halt Israel's aggression and reiterated Jordan's support for Lebanon's sovereignty and security. He urged the international community to prevent Israel from exploiting the regional situation to impose new realities in Jerusalem, Gaza, and the West Bank, noting that such actions undermine peace efforts and could lead to perpetual conflict.
The talks were attended by several key officials, including Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and Escort of Honour Sami Smeirat, non-resident Ambassador of Jordan to Finland Fayiz Khouri, and non-resident Ambassador of Finland to Jordan Anne Meskanen.
