Justice Ministry Pilots Digital Signature for Judicial Documents

Amman: Minister of Justice Bassam Talhouni announced the pilot launch of digital signatures for judicial documents at the Amman Court of First Instance.

According to Jordan News Agency, the first phase of the digital signature service, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy, will initially be applied to judicial letters and memoranda issued by judicial authorities in regular courts. The Enforcement Department of the Amman Court of First Instance is the first to implement this service.

The digital signature serves as an electronic fingerprint, verifying the sender’s identity for those who have activated their digital ID via the Sanad app. This service aims to streamline procedures, save time, reduce operational costs, and ensure high levels of reliability and security. Each digitally signed document will feature a QR code, allowing recipients to verify its authenticity through the Sanad app or the Ministry of Justice’s e-services portal.

Talhouni stated that after the pilot phase at the Amman Court of First Instance, the digital signature application would gradually extend to all courts across the Kingdom. The second phase of the initiative will encompass all judicial procedures in every court.

The launch is part of the Ministry of Justice’s ongoing digital transformation plan. Last year, the Ministry updated its e-services portal to include 57 e-services, with plans to increase this number to 100 by the end of the year. This initiative aligns with the directives of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah and the National Council for Future Technology’s efforts to enhance public services and facilitate procedures for citizens.
