Justice Minister, Iraqi counterpart discuss cooperation

The Minister of Justice, Ahmed Ziyadat, received on Thursday, the Iraqi Minister of Justice, Salar Abdul Sattar, to discuss cooperation.

A statement issued by the ministry said that the two ministers discussed areas of bilateral cooperation and exchange of expertise in legal and judicial matters to serve the interests of the two countries.

Ziyadat underlined the depth of relations, which are tied to a memorandum of understanding on repatriation, the 1983 Riyadh Agreement for Judicial Cooperation and a number of international agreements such as the United Nations Convention against Corruption. Work is underway to sign more agreements in the future, the minister added.

The meeting tackled the development in the field of services provided by the Ministry of Justice, digitization and newly created departments such as the Department of Community-Based Sentences, Legal Aid, Human Rights, the Notary Public and the Licensed Notary Public, in addition to the issue of the electronic monitoring bracelet as an alternative to arrest and remote trials.
