JSMO, JFDA discuss cooperation with Palestinian side

Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) and Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) and their Palestinian counterparts discussed remotely on Thursday, cooperation and ways to activate the joint memoranda of understanding (MoU).

Speaking at the virtual talks, JSMO Director, Abeer Al-Zuheir, stressed the need to activate the memo of mutual recognition of conformity certificates, calling for removing obstacles in a way that contributes to increasing trade exchange and facilitating flow of goods between the two countries.

Affirming the JSMO’s keenness to harness its expertise and accredited laboratories to serve the Palestinian side, Al-Zuheir stressed the importance of exchanging technical information and unifying common positions in international forums to serve and strengthen the common Arab position.

Speaking remotely, JFDA Director, Nizar Mhaidat, affirmed the Administration’s keenness to overcome the obstacles facing the Palestinian side, underlining the importance of continuing meetings for this purpose, and making more facilitations for Palestinian products to enter the Jordanian market.

For his part, Director of the Palestine Standards Institution (PSI), Haider Hajja, pointed to the importance of activating the MoU and the executive program signed between Jordan and Palestine, and giving the Jordanian and Arab product a preferential status in the Palestinian market.

Hajja praised the role played by Jordanian institutions and facilitations provided by Jordan to the Palestinian economy, as well as the technical expertise of Jordanian laboratories and human manpower.

On future action, the two sides agreed to nominate staff to follow up on implementation of the recommendations and maintain joint coordination and discussions.
