JPMC, APC sign 3 MoUs in ammonia, fertilizer industries fields

Amman: Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) and the Arab Potash Company (APC) signed 3 memorandums of understanding (MoU) in the field of ammonia industries, specialized fertilizers, and conducting joint studies.

According to a JPMC press statement on Wednesday, the memos were signed by JPMC Board Chairman Mohammed Thneibat, and APC Chairman, Shehadeh Abu Hudaib.

Under the MoUs, the two companies will work to find potential partnerships for projects related to the specialized fertilizer industry, and joint future partnerships and investments in ammonia industry.

The two sides will also conduct joint studies on the conditions and ways to develop Jordan’s fertilizer industry sector.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Thuneibat lauded the “long-term, strategic” relationship between the two companies and their “significant” role in supporting the national economy and providing job opportunities for Jordanians.

He noted the two companies’ exports of fertilizers, raw potash and raw phosphate at the end of last November amounted to JD2.7 billion, compared to JD1.6 billion in the same period in 2021.

The MoUs constitute a basis for strengthening joint cooperation relations to serve both companies’ shareholders and the national economy, he said.

For his part, Abu Hudaib stressed the MoUs’ importance in strengthening joint cooperation between the two companies, referring to their role in implementing the APC’s future plans and its expansion projects, especially in specialized fertilizer industries, which have witnessed “remarkable” development globally recently and need joint investments and partnerships.
