Jouf University Awarded 4 Medals at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva


Sakaka, Jouf University won four medals, gold and silver, at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions held in Geneva from April 17 to 21, in which 26 Saudi universities competed and over 1,000 inventions from more than 40 countries were presented.

Students from the university’s College of Science won three gold and one silver medals. Gold medal recipients are Wasn Alenazi for the invention “Sustainable biodiesel production from waste olive oil”, Hala Aldaghmi for the invention “Solar remediation wastewater system using confined CdS quantum dots in polysulfone membrane”, and a joint invention by Aldaghmi and Ahmed Albarkani, titled “Chemiresistive substrate for a hydrogen gas sensor”. Ahmed Albarkani was also awarded the silver medal for the invention “Nanostructured hybrid electrodes for energy-efficient water desalination”.

Jouf University President Prof. Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Shaya lauded the impressive performance of the university’s faculty members and students at this global event, and commen
ded the team’s inventive achievements, which brought recognition to the nation and showcased the university’s capabilities.

Al-Shaya extended his gratitude to the Saudi leadership for the unwavering support for research, innovation, and creativity in education.
