Jordan’s King Abdullah II to Embark on State Visit to China

Beijing: At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan will embark on a state visit to China from August 18 to 24, as announced by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Monday. This visit marks the ninth time King Abdullah II will visit China since he ascended to the throne.

According to Nam News Network, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian confirmed during a regular press briefing that President Xi Jinping will engage in talks with King Abdullah II. Their discussions will cover bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues of mutual interest. Additionally, Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, are scheduled to meet with the Jordanian King.

Lin Jian also announced that King Abdullah II will visit the cities of Shanghai and Shenzhen. Highlighting the traditional friendship between China and Jordan, the spokesperson noted that under the strategic leadership of President Xi and King Abdullah II, the bilateral relations have experienced steady growth in recent years. This has been characterized by fruitful cooperation in various fields and deepening friendly exchanges between the two nations.

The spokesperson further emphasized that China aims to use this visit as a platform to enhance political mutual trust, broaden mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote people-to-people exchanges. This visit is expected to deepen collaboration on multilateral occasions, elevate the bilateral strategic partnership, and contribute positively to regional peace, stability, and development.
