Tashkent: The Assistant Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives, Dr. Huda Naffa, highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip during her address at the 150th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Uzbekistan. She reported that thousands of children and women have perished under the rubble due to ongoing Israeli aggression, in a context of international silence and bias.
According to Jordan News Agency, Dr. Naffa criticized the international community for failing to address the crisis effectively. She indicated that some factions propose displacing Gaza residents rather than holding aggressors accountable, thereby misplacing blame on victims. Dr. Naffa emphasized that the global community’s credibility is at stake, aligning her remarks with King Abdullah II’s statement on the selective application of international law and human rights based on ethnicity and religion.
Dr. Naffa further remarked that the Middle East has become a battleground for conflicts, while Jordan voices the call for an end to hostilities and the promotion of dialogue. She affirmed Jordan’s commitment to supporting Palestinian rights and other just causes worldwide.
Highlighting regional concerns, Dr. Naffa noted His Majesty’s efforts to prevent the displacement of Christians in the East and safeguard Jerusalem’s holy sites under Hashemite custodianship. She praised Jordan’s model of governance, which is advancing through political, economic, and administrative modernization.
Domestically, she mentioned recent amendments to Jordan’s Election and Political Parties Laws, which aim to enhance representation of women and youth. Additionally, she highlighted the National Social Protection Strategy (2025-2033), which benefits from comprehensive Royal endorsement.
