Riyadh: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) announced the appointment of Dr. Nizar Haddad as its Representative and Program Manager in Saudi Arabia, aiming to strengthen the organization’s regional presence and accelerate the implementation of its development programs.
According to Jordan News Agency, FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa, Dr. AbdulHakim Elwaer, stated that the decision reflects the organization’s confidence in Dr. Haddad’s leadership experience. Dr. Haddad is expected to support food security and enhance the sustainability of agricultural systems in the region.
Dr. Haddad is recognized as a significant scientific figure in agriculture and innovation. He previously served as the Director General of the National Agricultural Research Center (NCAR) in Jordan, where he led a shift in research and technical work by launching the e-NARC platform and establishing the National Seed Bank.
In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Haddad has an academic background that includes authoring 17 books and publishing over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers. He is fluent in several languages, including English and Russian.
Dr. Haddad holds a PhD in Animal Science and Agricultural Sciences from the Belgorod State Agricultural Academy in Russia, as well as a Master’s degree and a postgraduate diploma in strategic and national resource management.
