Jordanian, Egyptian, Iraqi foreign ministers convene for cooperation

Amman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and ministers of foreign affairs Fouad Hussein of Iraq and Sameh Shoukry of Egypt met on Wednesday to discuss cooperation, coordination, and strategic integration under the trilateral cooperation mechanism between the three countries.

A joint statement said the meeting was held to strengthen the partnership between Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq and boost coordination and cooperation in political, economic, security, and industrial fields in order to achieve prosperity and development.

During the meeting, the three ministers pinpointed various areas of cooperation and urged the activation of signed agreements.

Safadi and Shoukry affirmed Jordan’s and Egypt’s full support for Iraq’s stability and security, offering their congratulations to the country on forming a new government.

The ministers also went over regional issues, including the Palestinian cause, and confirmed that coordination, consultation, and action are taking place to solve regional crises and serve the region.

Further meetings were agreed to be held in preparation for the fourth summit, hosted next year by Egypt, under the trilateral cooperation mechanism.

Moreover, they agreed to maintain institutional communication to forge ahead with projects and coordinate future plans in light of economic challenges that urge systematic cooperation.
