Abu dhabi: The Jordan Post Company (JPC) said Thursday that Jordan had been elected to join the Universal Postal Union’s Board of Directors, consisting of 192 participating nations. This occurred at the general meeting of the Union, which was held in the United Arab Emirates.
According to Jordan News Agency, Sami Al-Daoud, head of the Jordanian delegation and chairperson of the JPC’s board of directors, emphasized that Jordan’s membership in the Union’s Board of Directors represents international recognition of Jordan’s high standing and the world’s respect for the regional and international role played by the Kingdom in various forums. He clarified that this historic achievement gives Jordan Post more obligations to keep evolving and modernizing, especially in the areas of finance, digital transformation, postal services, and putting strategic projects into action that fulfill the goals of future generations while adhering to the economic modernization vision.
Al-Daoud further noted that as one of the specialized organizations affiliated with the United Nations, Jordan’s membership in the Board of Directors of this prestigious international institution enhances the Kingdom’s role in formulating future policies and plans for the global postal sector and gives it a real opportunity to positively influence the development of a more just and effective postal network at the international level.
Hanadi Al-Tayeb, the Director-General of JPC, stressed that this achievement is a further motivation to keep bolstering Jordan’s influence both domestically and abroad by growing strategic alliances and upgrading the postal service’s infrastructure to stay up with international trends.
