This partnership, Shamali noted, is an opportunity to continue exploring investment opportunities, in an effort to cement “strategic” tripartite coordination, cooperation and integration, in a manner that aligns with the three countries’ legislation in force.

Given the importance of the industrial sector’s role in the process of economic development, he noted this cooperation came as a basis for growth, in light of the three countries’ capabilities in this field.

Shamali also referred to the initiative’s investment fund, which was announced by the UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, in conjunction with its signing ceremony in Abu Dhabi, at a value of $10 billion that will be run by UAE state holding company.

For her part, the ministry’s secretary-general, Dana Zoubi, highlighted the next steps for the initiative’s implementation, foremost is formation of 6 work teams from government institutions and private sector in the areas of foodstuffs, fertilizers, drugs, textiles, metals, chemicals, plastics and machinery.

A list of eligible companies wishing to join the partnership projects in the three countries will be prepared, in line with the desired initiative’s goals and should also operate in the industrial sectors and projects of the initiative’s initial first phase, in addition to other basic requirements, she noted.

Next July, she announced companies will participate in a workshop, most likely in Cairo, to network with the Egyptian and Emirati counterparts.

Meanwhile, JCC Chairman, Fathi Jaghbir, and board members stressed the importance of the partnership initiative and its pillars aimed to achieving industrial integration, which reflects “key” industrial sector’s role in the three countries.

They also noted the JCC’s readiness to deal “positively” with this partnership, which receives the private sector’s interest, to enhance Arab economic cooperation and increase coordination to face challenges.
