Amman: The Jordan Free and Development Zones Group is preparing to launch three major tourism projects at the Dead Sea in conjunction with Jordan's Independence Day celebrations, marking a shift in the development of one of the world's prominent tourism destinations.
According to Jordan News Agency, the group announced that the projects, which include the Dead Sea Corniche, the Dead Sea Tourist Beach, and the Dead Sea Walkway, represent a new phase aimed at enhancing the visitor experience and transforming the Dead Sea into an integrated year-round entertainment and tourism hub. The launch will coincide with major national events along the Corniche, walkway, and beach, in a festive atmosphere reflecting the spirit of independence and combining entertainment, culture, and national identity, the group added.
Chairman of the group, Sakher Ajlouni, highlighted that the Dead Sea Corniche project is a crucial element in the region's tourism transformation, offering an integrated model for an open-air entertainment destination extending 1.1 kilometers. The design includes walking paths, seating areas overlooking the sea, and innovative photo spots designed to align with digital content trends and enhance the site's presence on social media platforms.
The Corniche will also feature a multipurpose outdoor theater serving as a venue for concerts, national performances, and cultural festivals, ensuring continuous tourism activity. Ajlouni detailed the investment opportunities the project offers, including restaurants, cafes, and entertainment ventures, which support the local economy and attract investment.
Ajlouni further explained that the Dead Sea Tourist Beach has been developed to become the largest organized family recreational outlet in the area, with a capacity of over 4,500 visitors. It offers spacious areas for privacy and relaxation, equipped with facilities like swimming pools, shower units, and family seating areas.
The Dead Sea Walkway project includes 20 kiosks distributed to enhance the visual landscape. The 4-kilometer walkway is equipped with services, sanitation facilities, seating areas, and green spaces to accommodate visitors.
These projects are expected to create numerous jobs and involve the local community, enhancing their economic and social impact. Ajlouni emphasized that this initiative will help increase the length of stay of foreign tourists, benefiting from the Dead Sea's status as a leading global destination for medical and wellness tourism. Nominal entry fees will be charged to ensure a high-quality visitor experience.
