Amman: The organizing committee for the Jordan International Detergents Conference and Exhibition (Detex 2026) has announced the launch of its fifth edition on May 10, organized by the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI). The event will see participation from 100 companies representing 40 different countries.
According to Jordan News Agency, Fathi Jaghbeer, Chairman of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, emphasized that the event illustrates the chambers’ commitment to supporting Jordan’s chemical and cosmetics industries. Jaghbeer highlighted that chemical exports reached JD1.478 billion last year, marking a 38 percent increase. He underscored the sector’s contribution to the economy and job creation, with export opportunities projected at JD1.8 billion.
Jaghbeer pointed out the past “success” of Jordanian detergents in both local and international markets, especially their role in fulfilling demand during the COVID-19 pandemic. He expressed hope that Detex will help establish Jordan as a “regional hub” for the detergent industry and attract additional investment.
Mohammed Shaer, head of the organizing committee, described Detex as a landmark event, noting that 80 percent of local consumption is satisfied by domestic production and that exports extend to more than 28 countries. Shaer encouraged universities to create a research center for detergent technology and announced that the event will gather over 500 industry leaders and researchers, including 24 speakers, to discuss innovation and future trends.
The conference will also introduce new competitions, primarily an Award for Best Innovation.
According to ACI Director General Nael Husami, the goal is to increase awareness of best practices, promote technology transfer, and elevate Jordan’s regional status in the industry. Husami mentioned that Jordan produces approximately 350,000 tonnes of detergents annually, with aspirations to boost exports to JD1 billion by 2030.
