Jordan takes part in fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament

First deputy of the Lower House Speaker, MP Ahmad Safadi, has participated in the fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, which was held in Vienna, Austria.

Speaking at the conference, Safadi said that Jordan has always proved to be a model for tolerance and coexistence, which are the values His Majesty King Abdullah II always calls to promote, noting that Islam demonstrates peace and condemns terrorism, according to a statement by the Lower House on Wednesday.

The MP pointed to the challenges facing the regional peace process as a result of the successive strikes in favor of hate speech, in addition to some international media platforms that adopted unwise views, putting their interests before the values of peace and love.

Bringing together heads of international parliaments, the conference discussed means of bringing sustainable development, the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic, countering misinformation and hate speech on and offline, repealing laws that discriminate against women and girls, and reviewing emergency measures imposed by governments.
