Jordan Reaffirms Support for Arab Cooperation in Media Sector

Kuwait city: Jordan stands firmly with its Arab counterparts in support of just causes, declared Mohammad Momani, the Minister of Government Communication. The Kingdom consistently backs initiatives and efforts that enhance media cooperation and coordination across Arab states through its expertise and programs.

According to Jordan News Agency, Momani led the Jordanian delegation at the 22nd regular session of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Information Ministers in Kuwait. In his address, he highlighted the significance of the Executive Bureau's efforts in fostering collaboration among Arab partners to tackle challenges and leverage advancements in media technology.

Momani emphasized that the rapid growth of media and artificial intelligence requires Arab states to address current demands and prepare for future generations. He underscored the importance of integration among Arab countries to safeguard media systems and reinforce Arab identity and culture.

He further stated that the current challenges facing Arab and Islamic nations, particularly those impacting public awareness, necessitate intensified joint efforts and stronger coordination for accelerated media collaboration. Jordan remains committed to contributing its media expertise to bolster joint Arab media initiatives.

The Kingdom has proposed initiatives focused on media literacy, engagement strategies with international media, and enhancing Arab cooperation within the Arab League framework. Momani also addressed the role of media in supporting the Palestinian cause, asserting its centrality to Arab and Islamic efforts and the necessity of highlighting the Palestinian right to an independent state.

He discussed the media's role in countering misinformation and safeguarding truth, reiterating that Palestine remains pivotal for regional security and peace. Prior to the session, Momani engaged in consultations with other Arab ministers to reach broader consensus on agenda items.

On the sidelines, Momani met with Arab delegations to explore ways to enhance bilateral media cooperation, focusing on existing agreements and expanding collaboration to strengthen Arab media capabilities. The delegation included Zaid Nawaisah, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Government Communication, and Alaa Zyoud, Media Advisor at the Jordanian Mission to the League of Arab States.
