Jordan outlines 2nd review report on its implementation of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Nasser Shraideh, Chairman of the Supreme National Committee for Sustainable Development, chaired its virtual meeting to discuss preparations to draft Jordan’s 2nd voluntary national review report, which is scheduled to be presented at the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) next July.

In a ministry statement on Thursday, Shraideh stressed that Jordan is committed to implementing the sustainable development agenda since its launch in 2015, according to national priorities, despite the related challenges.

“This is in line with the main title of the HLPF 2022, which is “Building Back Better after Covid-19 pandemic, while moving forward with the comprehensive implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, ” he pointed out.

During the meeting, Shraideh announced Jordan was selected to chair the 2022 Arab Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, to be held during next March, in partnership with the Arab League and relevant UN organizations, which is the main regional mechanism to follow up and review implementation of the 2030 sustainable development plan in the Arab region.

The discussions also went over developments on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the national level, priorities of sustainable development, in light of the challenges facing Jordan’s economy, means to outline the 2nd voluntary national report, its action plan and timeframe, the statement said.

The meeting, moreover, tackled formation of the relevant task forces, whose membership includes the relevant authorities concerned with realizing the set goals, the statement pointed out.
