Amman, Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and the Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, Tuesday held a meeting on the talks held by His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Sudani, in Amman in November to enhance cooperation.
Safadi and Hussein said Jordan and Iraq had launched projects and programmes to expand cooperation in areas of the economy, trade and investment, efforts to combat terrorism, consolidate security and stability, enhance coordination on Arab and regional issues and confront common challenges.
Safadi added that the security and stability of Iraq is a “pillar” for regional security and stability and that Jordan supports Iraq in protecting its sovereignty and upholding its security and stability.
Hussein affirmed Iraq’s appreciation of Jordan’s support for Iraq, expressing his keenness to develop bilateral ties.
The top ministers discussed regional developments, especially the Palestinian issue, and affirmed continued coordination on efforts to resolve regional crises and realise security and stability.
They added that the two countries are working to develop cooperation in the context of the tripartite cooperation mechanism with Egypt.
Foreign ministers of Jordan, Iraq and Egypt are scheduled to hold a meeting in Amman Wednesday as part of the framework of the trilateral cooperation mechanism.
