Jordan, Iraq, Egypt discuss enhancing ICT cooperation

Minister of digital economy and entrepreneurship, Ahmad Hanandeh, late Sunday discussed in Cairo with his Egyptian counterpart, Amr Talaat, and Iraqi counterpart, Arkan Shihab Al-Shaibani, means of cementing tripartite ties in the area of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

The meeting comes to consider progress in materializing the outcomes of the tripartite leaders’ summits held throughout the year, and to boost partnership and joint strategic integration.

In a statement on Monday, the ministry said that talks during the meeting also tackled the possibility of establishing an interconnection system between Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt, in addition to forming joint artificial intelligence projects.

“The ministers agreed on the importance of the tripartite ICT coordination to serve the interests of the three countries, in light of the technological development and the fourth industrial revolution that is currently changing the world,” the statement added.

Hanandeh highlighted the need for creating real partnerships, programs and projects between the three countries to support their economies; as digital transformation is the key to build new global concepts and positive cultural changes.
