Amman: Former Prime Minister Samir Rifai stated that Jordan plays a crucial role in the joint Arab action system, emphasizing the need for unity behind the Jordanian state and the Hashemite leadership amid regional tensions. He highlighted the importance of bolstering confidence in national institutions to navigate the current phase of regional escalation effectively.

He underscored that such cohesion is essential for Jordan to continue serving as a voice of moderation and balance in a region beset by increasing crises. Rifai described the situation as an unprecedented regional crisis, characterized by unwarranted aggression against Jordan and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, leading to significant regional and global political and economic impacts.
Despite these challenges, Rifai emphasized that ensuring Jordan's security and stability must remain the foremost priority. He warned against the influence of competing regional projects, specifically those of Israel and Iran, which have taken advantage of Arab divisions to extend their reach and destabilize states by fostering polarization and eroding trust between governments and their citizens.
Rifai highlighted that Jordan's primary focus should be clear: to preserve its stability, protect its institutions, and maintain its capability to operate in a balanced manner on political and economic fronts. He also pointed out that regional developments are intricately tied to economic conditions, stressing that Jordan, like other nations, is directly impacted by instability and must prepare for all possible outcomes.
He advocated for strengthening relationships with Arab neighbors, particularly Syria and Iraq, and enhancing cooperation with Saudi Arabia and the GCC. Rifai urged for greater economic integration, the opening of Arab markets, and the establishment of a collective security framework to advance mutual interests. He affirmed that Jordan is well-positioned to fulfill its role within the Arab world, continuing its longstanding commitment to regional stability.
Rifai further emphasized that the upcoming phase requires increased self-reliance and stronger Arab interdependence, noting that unity is the foundation of Arab strength. On the issue of Palestine, he asserted that protecting the occupied West Bank from displacement, depopulation, or the erosion of prospects for a political solution is a priority for Jordan. He reiterated Jordan's enduring support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, noting that developments in the occupied West Bank have direct implications for Jordan's national security and the future of the Palestinian cause.
Rifai also called for maintaining Jordan's international standing, describing global trust in the Kingdom as a core component of its strength and influence.
