Jordan Industry Seeks Broader Access to EU Markets, Says Chamber

Amman: Chairman of the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) Fathi Jaghbir emphasized the significant role of the European Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (EuroCham) in strengthening economic ties between Jordan and the European Union. He highlighted the necessity for enhanced cooperation to boost Jordanian exports to EU markets.

According to Jordan News Agency, during a meeting with EuroCham board members, Jaghbir identified promising industrial sectors that have the potential to increase exports to the European market. The EU remains a vital destination for Jordanian products. Jaghbir stated that the ACI is committed to enhancing Jordanian exports not only to traditional markets but also to emerging ones, aiming for a broader diversification of high-quality local products that need more robust promotion and technical support.

The chamber provides various services, including export readiness assessments for industrial entities and market studies based on technical analyses of global market requirements. Additionally, it works to bolster exporters' technical capabilities and facilitate connections between Jordanian manufacturers and potential European buyers.

EuroCham Chairman Mohammad Smadi announced plans to coordinate with industry and commerce chambers for meetings with European trade attach©s. The chamber will also organize economic visits and trade missions to increase trade exchanges with the EU. Smadi noted that Jordan's exports to the European Union surged by 72.3 percent during the first two months of the year, reaching JD112 million compared to JD65 million during the same period of the previous year.

Smadi further mentioned that ACI will conduct workshops to increase awareness of European standards and market entry requirements. These efforts will be in collaboration with specialized experts and will promote the utilization of EU-supported programs for knowledge exchange and capacity-building in marketing and management for Jordanian companies and institutions.
