Amman: Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) President Hamdi Tabbaa met with Hungarian Ambassador Attila Kali to discuss the enhancement of economic relations and the reactivation of the Jordanian-Hungarian Joint Business Council.
According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions focused on the need to reinvigorate the business council, which connects the JBA and the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency. The aim is to intensify meetings to highlight promising investment opportunities and strengthen Jordanian-Hungarian partnerships across various economic sectors.
Tabbaa noted improvements in several Jordanian sectors, including tourism, real estate, food industries, energy, and information technology. He emphasized the importance of increasing trade volume and Jordanian exports to Hungary.
Ambassador Kali highlighted the steady growth of relations with Jordan and pointed to the development of Jordanian sectors like finance, information technology, and services. He stressed reactivating the Joint Business Council and building investment partnerships, especially in the food and tourism industries. There is also a need to increase trade volume and enhance export opportunities, particularly in fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals.
Kali assured that the embassy will facilitate business activities for entrepreneurs from both countries and support cooperation between private sector institutions. He also mentioned easing procedures to boost the number of Hungarian tourists visiting Jordan.
Trade between Jordan and Hungary reached about $49 million in 2023, with Jordan exporting vegetables, electrical equipment, machinery, and food products to the Hungarian market.
