Jordan explores ICT cooperation prospects with Palestine, Yemen

Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmed Hanandeh, met separately with Palestinian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Ishaq Sider, and Yemen’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Najeeb Mansour Auj.

The talks are held on the sidelines of the two ministers’ participation in the Artificial Intelligence Defense Technology and Cyber Security Exhibition and Conference (AIDTSEC 2021), which kicked off on Wednesday at the Dead Sea, according to a ministry’s statement on Thursday.

The discussions also went over means of activating bilateral cooperation relations with Palestine and Yemen, the statement added.

Sider and Auj reviewed the Palestinian and Yemeni vision to develop their countries’ information and communications technology (ICT) sector, and discussed aspects of joint cooperation in related fields with the Kingdom, the statement noted.

Speaking at the meetings, Hanandeh lauded Jordan’s relations with the two countries as “historic, deep-rooted” and a model for pan-Arab relations at all political and economic levels.

Voicing willingness to strengthen relations in the ICT field and implement joint projects, Hanandedh said this drive comes in light of the keenness to achieve digital transformation and the increasing ICT importance as a major pillar of development processes.

For their part, Sider and Auj stressed their countries’ “distinguished” relations with Jordan and commended the Kingdom’s “remarkable” development in the ICT sector.
