Amman: Upon Royal directives, the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army on Sunday dispatched two new mobile bakeries to Gaza, in collaboration with the World Central Kitchen (WCK) organisation. With this initiative, Jordan aims to enhance its ongoing efforts to provide essential relief and medical aid to the region, focusing on increasing the food supply, especially bread, amid the challenging humanitarian situation in Gaza.
According to Jordan News Agency, these newly dispatched bakeries will join an existing one, bringing the total number of mobile bakeries operated by Jordan in Gaza to three. The introduction of the new bakeries is expected to significantly augment bread production, with a combined daily output reaching approximately 70,000 loaves. This effort is crucial in addressing food shortages and providing sustenance to the local population.
The first Jordanian mobile bakery commenced its operations in Gaza earlier this year. Since then, it has successfully produced over 11 million loaves of bread, demonstrating the effectiveness of this initiative. The World Central Kitchen, an international non-governmental organisation known for delivering food assistance to communities impacted by conflicts and disasters worldwide, oversees the operations of these bakeries.
