Jordan-EU Summit Highlights Collaborative Efforts in Renewable Energy Transition

Amman: Secretary-General of the Arab Renewable Energy Commission (AREC), Mohammad Taani, affirmed the Jordan-EU Summit represents an "advanced model" of Jordanian cooperation with European countries in supporting sustainable development and clean energy. Taani emphasized the summit's significant role in fostering a sustainable economy fueled by innovation and renewable energy, while also aiming for energy equity and enhancing human development.

According to Jordan News Agency, Taani highlighted Jordan's official accession to the Global Energy Transition Forum as a clear sign of the shared commitment to making tangible progress in using renewable energy and promoting a green transition. The summit's outcomes are a testament to Jordan's dedication to transitioning toward a sustainable green economy, focusing on renewable energy projects, electricity storage, and improving energy and water efficiency.

Taani further explained that the joint program of the summit emphasized support for reforms in financial governance and economic management. This includes expanding the productive economy, enhancing the business environment, promoting transparency and financial efficiency, and developing tools for managing public debt and government spending. Moreover, the summit's recommendations to support industrial initiatives related to a low-carbon economy were commended by Taani.

He also noted that this collaborative effort would enable Jordan to develop infrastructure for green hydrogen and circular economy projects. This initiative is expected to expand employment, entrepreneurship, and vocational training opportunities, while also enhancing the role of women and youth in the labor market.
