Jordan Criticizes Israeli Actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Jerusalem:Amman Jordan has condemned the recent storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif by Israeli Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and groups of extremist settlers, who were reportedly under the protection of Israeli police forces.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs of Jordan labeled the incident as a blatant violation of international law, describing it as an unacceptable escalation and provocation. The ministry emphasized that these actions breach the historical and legal status quo at Al-Haram Al-Sharif and desecrate its sanctity.

Ministry spokesperson Fouad Majali expressed Jordan's strong condemnation of the ongoing incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli officials and settlers, along with their provocative actions. He criticized the Israeli police for facilitating these incursions and warned that such actions attempt to impose new realities at the site, aiming for a temporal and spatial division.

Majali further warned of the repercussions of these violations, asserting that Israel has no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem or its holy sites. He urged the international community to take decisive action to compel Israel to cease its unlawful practices and ensure unrestricted access for worshippers to Al-Aqsa Mosque.

He reaffirmed that Al-Aqsa Mosque is exclusively a place of worship for Muslims. The Jerusalem Endowment Administration and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, linked to Jordan's Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Places, hold the exclusive authority over the administration and access to the site.
