Jordan Condemns Israeli Minister’s Actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Jordan: Jordan Tuesday condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, under the protection of Israeli occupation police.

According to Jordan News Agency, Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs spokesperson Fouad Majali described the storming as a violation of the legal and historical status quo at the Haram al-Sharif, a desecration of its sanctity, and a dangerous escalation and unacceptable provocation. Majali emphasized that Israel has no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem or its Islamic and Christian holy sites.

He stated that the Kingdom rejects and condemns the continued incursions by the extremist minister, as well as the facilitation of these repeated violations by the Israeli occupation police. He noted that the actions aim to impose a new reality at Al-Aqsa Mosque by attempting to divide it temporally and spatially.

Majali warned of the grave consequences of these ongoing violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem and called on Israel to immediately halt all violations. He remarked that Israel's violations reflect the Israeli government's policy of escalating measures in the occupied West Bank and of violating the sanctity of holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.

He reiterated that the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in its entirety spanning 144 dunams, is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims. He affirmed that the Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, of the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, is the sole legal authority responsible for administering the mosque's affairs and regulating access to it.
