Jordan, Chile foreign ministers talk ties, regional, international developments

Jordan and Chile’s foreign ministers discussed, Thursday, over the phone “activating” bilateral cooperation and regional and international developments. Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi congratulated his Chilean counterpart Alberto van Klaveren on assuming his position as foreign minister. The two discussed cooperation in trade, tourism, agriculture and renewable energy. The top diplomats agreed to hold the second round of political consultations between senior officials in the two countries’ foreign ministries. The discussions focused on regional and international issues, especially the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian Territories and the deterioration in the occupied territories. Safadi commended Chile’s support for the two-state solution. Van Klaveren praised the “strong” Jordan-Chile ties and expressed his aspiration to enhance cooperation, noting his country’s appreciation for Jordan’s role in upholding regional security and stability. Next year will witness the seventieth anniversary of establishing relations between Jordan and Chile, founded in 1954.
