Jordan bought 19,194 gigawatt hours of electricity last year-NEPCO

Jordan purchased 19,194 gigawatt hours of electricity during 2020, while the electric power exported stood at 18,863.3 GWh, according to the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO).

In its 2020 report, posted on NEPCO’s website, electricity bought from conventional generation projects reached 15,768 GWh.

Of Jordan’s renewable energy projects, electricity bought stood at 3,024GWh, wind and solar energy at 1,378.8 GWh, 1,645.2 GWh, respectively, and other sources at 21.6 GWh, the statement noted.

As for energy imported from Egypt, quantities amounted to 380.6 GWh last year, said the statement.

With regard to NEPCO’s wholesale electricity sales, the company said volume stood at 18863.3 GWh.

According to the report, the exported energy to Al-Quds Company (Jericho) stood at 190.1 GWh, , while Iraqi border crossing (Trebil) bought 6.2GWh, and other importers purchased 1.0 GWh.
