Amman: Foreign ministers from Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Trkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt have expressed grave concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
According to Jordan News Agency, a joint statement from the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the severe deterioration of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza due to harsh weather conditions, such as heavy rainfall and storms, coupled with inadequate humanitarian access. The ministers noted the severe shortages of life-saving supplies and the slow pace of entry of essential materials needed to rehabilitate basic services and establish temporary shelters.
The ministers emphasized the vulnerability of nearly 1.9 million displaced people living in inadequate shelters, who are now facing increased life-threatening risks due to flooded camps, damaged tents, collapsing buildings, and exposure to low temperatures. These conditions, compounded by malnutrition, have heightened the risk of disease spread, particularly among children, women, the elderly, and those with serious medical conditions.
They lauded the efforts of United Nations organizations, especially UNRWA, and international non-governmental organizations for providing aid under challenging conditions. The ministers urged Israel to ensure UN and NGO operations in Gaza and the West Bank remain sustainable and unrestricted, stressing the unacceptability of any obstruction to their work.
The ministers reaffirmed their support for UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and President Donald Trump's comprehensive plan, highlighting their commitment to contributing to its implementation. They believe these efforts will help maintain the ceasefire, end the war in Gaza, and secure a dignified life for Palestinians, while advancing Palestinian self-determination and statehood.
They stressed the need for urgent early recovery efforts, including providing permanent shelters to protect residents from harsh winter conditions. The ministers called on the international community to pressure Israel into lifting restrictions on essential supplies, such as tents, medical aid, clean water, and fuel.
Additionally, they urged for the unhindered entry of humanitarian assistance, infrastructure rehabilitation, and the opening of the Rafah crossing in both directions, in line with President Trump's comprehensive plan.
