Amman: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan engaged in a phone conversation on Sunday, discussing the pressing issue of regional escalation and advocating for a swift return to diplomatic efforts.
According to Jordan News Agency, the ministers emphasized the need to halt further escalations by implementing the US-Iran ceasefire agreement and resuming negotiations aimed at achieving a comprehensive resolution to ongoing regional tensions.
Focusing on the Palestinian territories, Safadi and Fidan called for the complete execution of US President Donald Trump's Gaza plan to restore stability in the area. They urged Israel to immediately lift all restrictions on humanitarian aid to the blockaded strip, emphasizing the urgent need for relief.
The ministers expressed their rejection of any illegal Israeli actions that reinforce the occupation in the West Bank, as these undermine the two-state solution, which they described as "the only path to a just peace." They also called upon the international community to take decisive measures to prevent further violations of international law by Israel.
Additionally, Safadi and Fidan warned against ongoing Israeli efforts to change the historic and legal status quo of Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites. They highlighted that the Aqsa Mosque remains an exclusive place of worship for Muslims, cautioning that continued Israeli provocations could potentially ignite a broader conflict across the occupied West Bank.
