Jordan and Syria Discuss Enhancements at Joint Border Zone and Crossing

Amman: Yarub Qudah, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, engaged in discussions with Qutaiba Badawi, Chairperson of the Syrian General Authority for Land and Sea Ports, focusing on advancing economic ties between Jordan and Syria. According to Jordan News Agency, during his visit to the Syrian Nassib border crossing, adjacent to the Jordanian Jaber crossing, Qudah emphasized Jordan’s commitment to expediting transactions at the Jaber-Nassib border crossing in collaboration with Syrian counterparts. This initiative aims to enhance trade and transportation, facilitate the movement of people, and address any issues that may emerge promptly. The discussions involved examining the facilities and operational processes for the movement of trucks and passengers at the crossing. Both sides explored measures to accelerate trade between the two nations. The parties expressed their readiness to take necessary actions to accommodate the increasing volume of trade and land transportation between Jordan and Syria. Th ey also discussed handling any potential challenges or issues at the border crossing. Moreover, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to collaboration to foster an environment conducive to investment, which would enhance bilateral trade and support Jordanian and Syrian industries. On the sidelines of the discussion, the Free Zone Company’s general assembly meeting addressed labor statistics for the first half of the year. The meeting presented proposals to boost economic activity, modernize infrastructure, and develop digital systems, aiming to strengthen the free zone’s position as a regional logistics hub serving both countries.
