Jordan and Saudi Arabia Explore Regional Rail Connectivity Projects

Amman: Transport Ministry Secretary-General Fares Abu Dayyah on Monday held a coordination meeting with Deputy of Railway Transport at the Saudi Transport General Authority, Bader Al Hujailan, to discuss cooperation in railway projects and developing regional rail connectivity between the two countries.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting, conducted via video conference with technical delegations from both sides, focused on enhancing integration in the transport sector and supporting trade flows and cargo movement between Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the broader region. The discussions underscored the commitment of both nations to advance transport integration, with Abu Dayyah emphasizing the significance of railway connectivity projects in facilitating trade and improving the movement of goods.

During the discussions, Saudi representatives reviewed key projects such as the "East Train" and the "North Train," which extend to the Jordanian border, highlighting the readiness of the Al-Qurayyat area for rail linkage. Meanwhile, the Jordanian side presented an outline of the National Railway Network project, detailing implementation priorities.

Both parties also addressed technical and logistical issues, focusing on harmonizing technical specifications and exchanging pertinent studies and documents. This collaborative effort aims to enhance implementation efficiency and ensure seamless project integration, further strengthening regional connectivity.
