Amman: Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Monem Odat on Monday engaged in discussions with a delegation from the Legal Committee of Oman's State Council, focusing on enhancing parliamentary and legal cooperation between the two nations.
According to Jordan News Agency, the Omani delegation was led by Sultan Al-Azizi, with the presence of Oman's Ambassador to Jordan, Fahad Alojaili. The discussions aimed at exchanging expertise in drafting and reviewing legislation, with an emphasis on improving the quality of legal drafting to align with the best legislative practices.
Odat highlighted the strong Jordanian-Omani relations, describing them as a solid Arab model characterized by trust, mutual respect, and unified positions on key Arab issues, particularly the Palestinian cause. He noted that both countries serve as voices of wisdom and moderation amid rapid regional challenges and developments.
During the meeting, Odat elaborated on Jordan's comprehensive modernization project, which encompasses political, economic, and administrative reforms. These reforms include legislative updates intended to enhance political life, increase party participation, empower women and youth, and advance the local administration system. He underscored the significance of sharing expertise between legislative institutions in Jordan and Oman to develop legal systems, enhance legislative efficiency, and promote good governance.
Sultan Al-Azizi, head of the Omani delegation, praised the deep-rooted Jordanian-Omani relations and acknowledged Jordan's experience in political modernization and legislative development. He expressed the State Council's eagerness to expand cooperation and exchange expertise with Jordan, benefiting both nations' interests.
