Jordan and Lebanon Sign 21 Cooperation Agreements Across Multiple Sectors

Beirut: Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and his Lebanese counterpart, Nawaf Salam, witnessed the signing of 21 cooperation agreements between Jordan and Lebanon, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations. The agreements were signed following their leadership of the eighth session of the Jordanian-Lebanese Joint Higher Committee in Beirut.

According to Jordan News Agency, Hassan emphasized Jordan's unwavering support for Lebanon, highlighting that this commitment aligns with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II. The Prime Minister articulated that the historic ties between Jordan and Lebanon are now being translated into comprehensive cooperation across various fields, including energy, trade, and tourism.

Hassan noted that the lack of direct borders between the two countries is compensated by strong historical ties that extend across communication, economic, and cultural domains. He announced the signing of agreements in sectors such as energy, electrical interconnection, and several service areas, stressing the importance of continuous ministerial and technical communication to implement these agreements effectively.

Commending Lebanon's reform efforts, Hassan underscored the importance of regional stability, particularly highlighting Syria's role in regional cooperation projects. He also reiterated Jordan's stance on the Palestinian cause, calling for unified efforts to address Israeli policies in occupied territories.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam acknowledged the significance of Hassan's visit, reflecting the robust relationship between Lebanon and Jordan. Salam noted that this visit represents an opportunity to redirect regional priorities towards stability and institution-building. He emphasized the importance of the joint committee meeting, which underscores the stable and cumulative nature of the bilateral relationship.

Salam stressed that the signed agreements aim to establish practical frameworks and follow-up mechanisms, ensuring that intentions translate into tangible results. He reiterated Lebanon's commitment to advancing its partnership with Jordan, considering serious Arab cooperation as essential for future regional stability.

The session concluded with the signing of numerous agreements covering industrial cooperation, consumer protection, energy, digital transformation, and more. Key ministers from both countries participated in the signing, marking a new chapter in Jordanian-Lebanese cooperation.

The official ceremony at the Grand Serail included the review of the honor guard and the playing of national anthems, symbolizing the strong ties between the two nations.
