Jordan and Georgia Discuss Strengthening Parliamentary Diplomacy and Regional Challenges

Amman: The Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, led by MP Dina Basheer, convened on Thursday with Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Georgian Parliament. The primary focus of this meeting was to explore ways to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly through parliamentary diplomacy.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting was attended by MP Hussein Amoush, head of the Jordanian-Georgian Parliamentary Friendship Association, and Georgian Ambassador to Amman Archil Dzuliashvili. The discussions addressed regional developments, emphasizing Jordan’s pivotal role in promoting stability and peace under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

Basheer reiterated Jordan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and its dedication to establishing an independent Palestinian state. She also highlighted Jordan’s humanitarian efforts in hosting refugees and supporting vulnerable communities.

Committee members stressed the importance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation and lauded Jordan’s political reform agenda aimed at advancing legislative, administrative, and investment frameworks.

The Georgian delegation acknowledged Jordan’s significant influence in the Middle East and underscored the necessity of continued cooperation between the two parliaments. They advocated for synchronizing positions in international forums and building on existing bilateral agreements to benefit both nations.
