Jordan and France Strengthen Bilateral Ties and Discuss Regional Stability


Amman: The Jordanian-French Parliamentary Friendship Association, led by Ibrahim Tarawneh, convened with French Ambassador Franck Gellet to explore bilateral relations and assess significant regional and international developments of mutual concern.



According to Jordan News Agency, Tarawneh emphasized the deep-rooted nature of Jordanian-French relations, which are anchored in mutual respect and continuous coordination, aiming to benefit both nations and promote regional stability. He highlighted the necessity of expanding cooperation in political, economic, investment, and educational sectors, as well as enhancing parliamentary and interpersonal engagements between the two countries.



Tarawneh reiterated Jordan’s enduring support for the Palestinian people’s rights and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He urged for increased international efforts to halt regional escalation and to support the pursuit of a just and comprehensive peace in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.



Members of Parliament Dina Bashir, Mustafa Amawi, and Nour Abu Ghosh also emphasized the significance of advancing Jordanian-French relations, especially in economic and investment domains, and broadening partnerships to beneficially serve both countries’ interests and aid development efforts.



The French ambassador expressed France’s pride in its relations with Jordan and its eagerness to further enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields. He praised Jordan’s role in promoting regional security and stability and advancing peace efforts. He also mentioned a planned visit by a French parliamentary delegation to Jordan next September, aimed at strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise, highlighting the vital role of parliamentary diplomacy in developing international relations.



Regarding the Palestinian issue, the ambassador affirmed France’s commitment to international legal frameworks, noting alignment with Jordan on matters concerning Jerusalem and the holy sites, and supporting efforts towards achieving peace and stability.
