Amman: Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Chen Chuandong emphasized the robust partnership between Jordan and China at a recent conference, highlighting their cooperation in modernisation and development. Chen’s remarks were made during the discussion of the outcomes of the 2025 “Two Sessions” of China’s National People’s Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
According to Jordan News Agency, Chen noted that 2025 will mark the tenth anniversary of the strategic partnership between China and Jordan. He affirmed China’s commitment to collaborating with Jordan on development initiatives aimed at fostering peace, stability, and regional growth. Chen encouraged Jordanian institutions to engage in Chinese exhibitions to showcase unique Jordanian products such as dates and olive oil, reflecting the extensive agricultural cooperation between the two nations.
Addressing the Palestinian issue, the ambassador reiterated China’s support for the two-state solution as the only viable path to establishing an independent Palestinian state. He condemned Israel’s actions in the occupied territories and urged adherence to international laws, highlighting the need for Israel to fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law, particularly regarding humanitarian aid and electricity supply to Gaza.
On Syria, Chen stressed the importance of international support for Syria’s sovereignty and the role of dialogue in determining its future. He acknowledged the alignment of China’s position with Syria’s neighboring nations, particularly regarding conflict resolution and civilian protection.
The ambassador commended Arab countries, including Jordan, for supporting the One China Policy, showcasing the strong political cooperation between China and Arab nations. He announced the second China-Arab Summit will be held in China next year, reiterating China’s readiness to enhance collaboration with Arab countries.
Chen outlined China’s economic objectives for the year, targeting a 5% GDP increase, stimulating consumption, and enhancing investments. He detailed plans to issue 300 billion yuan in government bonds to support innovation in sectors such as commercial aerospace and emerging technologies. The ambassador also highlighted efforts to maintain an urban unemployment rate of around 5.5%, create 12 million new jobs, and ensure income growth aligns with economic expansion.
Efforts to accelerate green transformation, deepen reform, and expand economic cooperation were also emphasized, alongside plans to host significant exhibitions like the China International Import Fair and the China Digital Trade Fair, aiming to strengthen bilateral and multilateral economic ties.
