Jordan and China Discuss Strengthening Agricultural Cooperation

Amman: Minister of Agriculture Saeb Khreisat met with Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Guo Wei to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in agriculture. Khreisat highlighted the longstanding bilateral ties between Jordan and China, emphasizing the importance of expanding agricultural collaboration to enhance food security and develop agricultural value chains.

According to Jordan News Agency, Khreisat underscored the need for broadening collaboration in transferring modern technologies and exchanging technical expertise. Particular focus areas include smart agriculture, water resource management, and modern agricultural production technologies. Khreisat expressed interest in leveraging China's advanced agricultural technology and innovation, including modern irrigation systems and the use of digital applications and artificial intelligence in farm management.

Khreisat reiterated the Ministry of Agriculture's commitment to fostering cooperation in scientific research, training, and capacity building for Jordanians in the agricultural sector. He emphasized that Jordan provides a conducive environment for agricultural investment and called for expanding joint investment opportunities between the public and private sectors in both countries, particularly in food processing and modern agricultural technologies, to support sustainable agricultural development.

The Chinese ambassador expressed pride in the robust relations between the two countries and affirmed Beijing's commitment to expanding cooperation with Jordan, particularly in agriculture. He advocated for promoting technology transfer, exchanging expertise, and encouraging joint investments.
