JMA Integrates Hakeem Billing System With National Platform for Streamlined Insurance Claims

Amman: The Jordan Medical Association (JMA) announced that the Electronic Health Solutions (EHS) program, known as Hakeem, has successfully integrated its billing system with the national billing platform. This integration allows for automatic billing when an insurance claim is submitted through the company’s system, aiming to simplify the process for doctors who utilize the service.

According to Jordan News Agency, the JMA stated that EHS has facilitated consolidated billing for claims from April, May, and June, following an exemption granted by the Income and Sales Tax Department for those months. Additionally, physicians can now issue detailed electronic bills retroactively from July 1, complying with the requirement for detailed billing from that date.

The JMA highlighted that Hakeem has linked several insurance providers’ online claim platforms to its billing system, ensuring automatic billing upon claim submission. These companies include Jordan International Insurance (Newton), GlobeMed Jordan, MedService, OmniCare, the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC), Medexa, and NatHealth (Tablet).

Hakeem is in the process of connecting the remaining platforms of other insurers, with completion anticipated by the end of the month. These insurers include Gulf Insurance Group (GIG), MedNet, Solidarity, and the Euro Arab Insurance Group.

The EHS has also implemented billing mechanisms for uninsured patients and self-funded entities like unions, banks, and universities. It provided a system for entering and billing inpatient claims directly for doctors preferring to claim from insurers without hospital involvement.

Additionally, the EHS has introduced a hospital billing system to aid doctors in collecting dues from hospitals and developed an electronic mechanism to automatically issue return invoices for amounts deducted by insurance companies from doctors’ claims.

Over 600 doctors have activated the service, with more than 40,000 invoices processed automatically, eliminating the need for manual billing, the JMA reported.

The association encouraged doctors to join and activate the electronic link with the national billing system through the Hakeem Claim platform.

The JMA formalized an agreement with EHS in June to provide a technical solution for doctors to electronically connect with the national billing system, facilitating the processing of medical insurance claims.
