JIAT Issues Statement on Allegation of Targeting Civilian House in Al-Jirahi Directorate, Al-Hudaydah Governorate


Riyadh: A statement was issued today by the Joint Incidents Assessment Team (JIAT) regarding the allegation that the Coalition Forces targeted a (civilian house) in (Al-Jirahi) directorate of (Al-Hudaydah) governorate on (01/12/2021) as follows:

‘With regard to what JIAT received that on (01/12/2021) one man and two children were injured in a strike that hit a (civilian house), in (Al-Jirahi) directorate of (Al-Hudaydah) governorate. No specific coordination for the claimed (civilian house) was provided.

JIAT vetted the incident, and reviewed all documents, including air tasking orders, daily mission schedule, mission execution procedures, after mission reports, satellite images, Coalition Forces rules of engagement, provisions and principles of International Humanitarian Law and its customary rules, and after assessment of evidences, JIAT found that (Al-Jirahi) directorate is located in the southern part of (Al-Hudaydah) governorate.

By studying the air missions carried out by Coalition Forces on (01/12/2
021), which is the date of the claim, JIAT found that Coalition Forces did not carry out any air missions on the whole of (Al-Hudaydah) governorate.

By studying the daily mission schedule carried out by the Coalition Forces one day prior and one day after the claimed date, JIAT found the following:

1.On (30/11/2021) one day before the claimed date, Coalition Forces did not carry out any air missions on (Al-Hudaydah) governorate.

2.On (02/12/2021) one day after the claimed date, Coalition Forces did not carry out any air missions on (Al-Hudaydah) governorate.

In light of that, JIAT found that Coalition Forces are not responsible for targeting a (civilian house) in (The al-Jirahi) directorate of (the Al-Hudaydah) governorate on (01/12/2021), as claimed.
