JEDCO Commits JD3 Million to Support 115 Business Projects

Amman:Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) has signed 115 support agreements under its "Create Your Business" and "Development" programs, with a total investment of JD3 million.

According to Jordan News Agency, these agreements encompass 80 projects valued at JD2 million within the "Create Your Business" initiative and 35 projects worth JD1 million under the "Development" program.

Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah highlighted that JEDCO received approximately 2,700 applications for these programs. After a rigorous selection process involving preliminary and final reviews, assessments by an independent company, and personal interviews, 115 projects were chosen to receive support.

Qudah emphasized the importance of geographical diversity among the selected projects. The ministry's objective is to assist businesses in growing, expanding, and creating sustainable employment opportunities, moving beyond small-scale operations.

JEDCO Executive Director Ghaleb Hijazi explained that the programs cater to different stages of business development. "Create Your Business" is designed to help entrepreneurs establish new ventures, while "Development" aims to support existing enterprises in expanding and enhancing their competitiveness.

Hijazi noted that JEDCO received 2,222 applications for the "Create Your Business" program and 561 for the "Development" program, with the final selection representing various governorates and economic sectors, including significant participation by women entrepreneurs.

JEDCO will also be responsible for monitoring the performance of these projects, measuring their outcomes, and providing follow-up support as the businesses evolve.
