JEA to hold mining conference next February

The Jordan Engineers Association’s (JEA) Mining, Geological and Petroleum Engineering Branch will hold the 9th Jordanian International Mining Conference (JIMC-9) on February 1 at the Hilton Dead Sea hotel.

In a statement on Sunday, the branch’s head Sameer Sheikh said the conference will tackle the obstacles facing mining, oil, gas, shale and geological engineering, in addition to relevant legislation and its effect on investment in the mining and energy fields.

Moreover, the conference will highlight the national water crisis and future challenges, strategic water projects and modern water technologies such as software and nanotechnology, he added.

Chairman of the preparatory committee for the conference Abdul Karim Qteishat said 22 research papers from Jordan and participating countries will be presented at the conference, noting that it is sponsored by the Jordan Islamic Bank (JIB), Jordan Phosphate Mines Co. (JPMC), Arab Potash Company (APC), Chemical and Mining Industries Co. (CMI) and the Arab Bridge center for Engineering Studies.
