JD1.25 million real estate bad cheque scam foiled in Amman

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel foiled an attempt to scam a Jordanian for JD1.25 million, planned by two fraudsters using a forged cheque issued from an Arab country to pay price of a plot of land with a mansion in the capital Amman.

According to the media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD), the CID was tipped off about two people attempting to defraud a person who offered a plot of land in the capital for sale, adding that scammers offered a fraudulent cheque in the purchase transaction.

The spokesperson noted the fraudsters’ identity in the case was identified, and were arrested, adding that the forged cheque that was used in the sale deal was seized in their possession.

The spokesperson called for following the legal procedures when buying and selling real estate to avoid fraud in the future.
