JCIF Expands Investment Portfolio with Stake in Al Jazeera Agriculture

Amman: The Jordan Capital and Investment Fund (JCIF) has announced the completion of its acquisition of a 23.3% stake in Al Jazeera Agriculture, a company specializing in poultry processing. This investment raises JCIF’s total investments to JD100 million across six Jordanian companies.

According to Jordan News Agency, Al Jazeera, established in 2001, offers products including hatching eggs, chicks, broiler chickens, animal feed, fresh and frozen chicken, and processed foods. The company operates a parent hatchery and a large slaughterhouse with a capacity of 10,000 birds per hour, producing around 46,000 tons of chicken annually. Its primary facilities are in Mafraq, supported by 35 farms across Jordan.

JCIF Chairman Hani Qadi emphasized the fund’s commitment to supporting Jordanian entrepreneurs and investing in companies like Al Jazeera that show growth potential and contribute to job creation. The investment aims to expand Al Jazeera’s slaughterhouse capacity and build new broiler farms, creating 200 additional jobs and increasing the workforce to over 1,500 employees.

Al Jazeera Chairman Omar Al Husseini expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with JCIF, highlighting the added value of JCIF’s strategic insight and reliability. Al Jazeera CEO Abdel Nasser Al Husseini noted the company’s strong market presence and plans to enhance export channels, with JCIF’s support, to further penetrate regional markets.

JCIF CEO Faris Sharaf added that Al Jazeera’s established market share positions it well for growth. The investment aims to strengthen the company’s market position, increase exports, and expand into neighboring regions, fostering long-term growth opportunities.

JCIF, a partnership of 16 Jordanian banks, is the largest private-sector investment fund in the kingdom, with a capital commitment of JD275 million. The fund invests in companies with growth potential to promote economic development and employment in Jordan.

To date, JCIF has invested JD100 million in six Jordanian companies across sectors like food and agriculture, information technology, education, and manufacturing.
