JCI, MCCI sign cooperation agreement to promote Jordanian-Saudi trade horizons

Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) and the Makkah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) signed a joint cooperation agreement, in the Saudi city of Mecca, during the visit of the Jordanian economic and industrial delegation, accompanied by Minister of Industry and Trade Yousef Shamali.

The delegation, which saw participation of JCI President, Fathi Jaghbir, and more than 50 Jordanian industrial companies, discussed ways to benefit from the two countries’ economic opportunities, by inking trade agreements that guarantee mutual feasibility, according to a JCI statement on Sunday.

In addition, the two sides went over the possibility of increasing the number of transit visas for Jordanian trucks en route to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), excluding Jordan from Saudi Arabia’s projected plans to replace imported products, and finding mechanisms to help Jordanian industrial sector by supporting contact with major Saudi shopping centers and commercial agents in Saudi Arabia.

Discussions also stressed the importance of supporting the idea of launching commercial-industrial integration and investment coalitions between the two countries’ private sector and opening “greater” contact channels, through Saudi embassy in Jordan regarding Saudi government’s trade decisions, the JCI statement added.

Discussing development of Jordan’s national exports to Saudi Arabia, the delegation said this efforts comes, in light of the volume of Saudi investments in Jordan that amounted to about $10 billion by the end of 2019, adding that a large amount of investment goes to sectors of transportation, infrastructure, energy, commercial and tourism construction, the statement noted.
