The Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) valued the government’s decision to exempt due fines on customs cases documented prior to December 31, 2019, by a rate of up to 90%.
In a statement on Tuesday, the chamber said this move is a “right” step at an “appropriate” time to alleviate the financial burdens on importers who are suffering “difficult” circumstances due to repercussions of the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip.
The JCC also called on exempting customs cases after 2019 until now and extending the time period for installments until the end of 2025.
The chamber urged the government to take a decision to exempt taxpayers from due fines on sales and income taxes for previous years.
The JCC said these government moves aimed to support the private sector would enhance partnership, and help its institutions address recession, weak liquidity, and burdens that have accumulated due to the surrounding circumstances.
