Japanese envoy visits Al-Salt, checks on development projects

Japan’s Ambassador to Jordan, Kaoru Shimazaki, on Tuesday was briefed on progress of development projects, funded by the Japanese government, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in the city of Al-Salt.

Ambassador Shimazaki inspected the city’s achievements within the project to develop tourist routes and sites, and he visited the Al-Salt Historical Museum, which was restored with JICA’s support, according to a Salt Development Corporation (SDC) statement.

SDC director, Khaldon Khreisat, said these projects contribute to the development and enhancement of the tourism sector in Al-Salt, and its presence on the UNESCO World Heritage List, which makes the city a destination for dometstic and foreign tourism.

Ambassador Shimazaki commended the SDC role and efforts in cooperation with various parties in developing the city, and providing it with attractive elements for tourism, lauding ties between Jordan and Japan in various fields.

He also reaffirmed the Japanese government’s support for development projects in the various governorates of the Kingdom.
